Mandera Clashes over political campaigns

Nearly three days of clashes in Rhamu, Mandera County between members of different clans of the Somali Community. At least 3 Killed and about 7,000 displaced. Reports vary as to whether the violence started when a man was run over by a campaign vehicle or was triggered by allegations of voter importation. As in other areas in Kenya where a single ethnic group predominates (for example the 2 Bomachoge constituencies or the constituencies comprising Kisumu county), the electoral battlelines in Mandera tend to be drawn around clan politics rather than tribe.
